WASIM JAFFER TROLLS ASHWIN WITH A MEME FROM POPULAR MOVIE; SPINNER REACTS
Home > News Shots > SportsFormer Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer, who was known for consistency at the domestic arena and eye-catching cover drives in his illustrious career is also known for his wit and humour on social media.
He was recently involved with the franchise Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) as their batting coach in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.
Despite the team failed to make it to the playoffs in the 13th edition of IPL, Jaffer garnered a lot of likes and comments on social media for his one-liners and knack for sharing memes on social media.
Recently, the cricket news portal ESPNCricinfo urged netizens to name their favourite cricket match but without revealing the name of the players or teams involved.
“Without naming any teams or players, what’s your favourite cricket match of all time?” ESPNcricinfo wrote. Jaffer used this opportunity to hilariously troll Ashwin. He came up with a meme from the famous Bollywood movie, Lagaan and tagged Ashwin to take a jibe at him.
The meme was taken from the popular the movie Lagaan, which was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. The scene depicted an English character mankading an Indian batsman to take his wicket.
Ashwin was also left in splits looking at Wasim Jaffer’s tweet. He replied back saying, "Wasim bhai" with laughing emojis.
Looking into Ashwin's IPL status, he had a decent run for IPL franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2020 edition of the T20 Championship. In 15 matches, the spinner picked 13 wickets at an economy of 7.66 and average of 30.07. 3/29 was the most economical spell bowled by Ashwin in IPL 2020.
