Despite having star players like Ab de Villers, Chris Gayle including Virat Kohli the most noted IPL franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has been facing tough times in almost all the IPL editions. Virat Kohli has led the team for the past 7 seasons and the team could not grab the trophy till date.
While Kohli's captaincy for Indian Cricket Team has been reasonably good, on the RCB front he has been facing some setbacks questioning his skills to lead the side. Amidst such situation, the RCB's newly appointed Director of Cricket, Mike Hesson answered the questions on Kohli's control in the team and talks about the change in captaincy on September 19 (Thursday).
“We don’t have that perception that Virat controls things. But maybe he has had his learnings from the past (mistakes) while moving forward,” Mike was quoted as saying by Sportstar. His statement confirmed that Virat Kohli will continue to be the captain of RCB. The former New Zeland Coach said, “There has been no question mark over Virat’s captaincy during the last couple of weeks (of discussions).”
Further Hesson talked about picking the specific players instead of hundreds of options in next IPL selection. Reportedly, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Mushtaq Ali Trophy would play a crucial role for the RCB managemenet to source potential players for the next season.
