On August 5 ( Monday), the ruling party at the centre Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Home Minister Amit Shah made a historic announcement that Article 370 which gives the "special status" to Jammu and Kashmir has been scrapped from the Indian Constitution. While the big political move has caused heated discussion around the world, Star cricketer of India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Suresh Raina has voiced out his support for the decision.
Suresh Raina appreciated the scrapping of Article 370 calling it a "Landmark Move". “Landmark move - scrapping of #Article370! Looking forward to smoother, and more inclusive times. #JaiHind” (sic) tweeted Raina via his official account. Not just Raina, former Indian Players Gautam Gambhir who is also East Delhi BJP MP and Mohammad Kaif also joined to welcome the political move by BJP.

"We did what no one could. The tri-colour has now been unfurled in Kashmir. Jai Hind! Congratulations India! Kashmir mubarak," Gambhir tweeted in Hindi. He also tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in the tweet.

The proposal stating the abolishment of Article 370 has it that Jammu and Kashmir will be converted into a Union Territory with legislature whereas the separated Ladakh will be converted into another Union Territory without legislature.
