SUNIL GAVASKAR'S COMMENT ON VIRAT KOHLI & ANUSHKA SHARMA CREATES CONTROVERSY; ACTRESS HITS BACK: POST VIRAL!
Home > News Shots > SportsLegendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar is currently making headlines for an unsavoury comment against Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma. The comment went viral soon after Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a humiliating defeat against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 match.
Hours after the match, a huge controversy triggered off the field where Sunil Gavaskar made a comment on air which did not go down well with fans. As Gavaskar received backlash on social media, Anushka slammed Gavaskar for his comment.
Kohli, who was not at his best in yesterday's match dropped two sitters of KL Rahul, who then went on to score 132 off 69 balls. It was the highest score ever by an Indian batsman in the IPL, that resulted in KXIP with an enormous total of 206/3.
Meanwhile, in the commentary box, Gavaskar came up with a comment involving Kohli’s actor wife Anushka. Gavaskar said "Inhone lockdown me toh bas Anushka ki gendon ki practice ki hai, (he has only faced Anushka's bowling in lockdown)". He referred to the viral video of the couple during the country's coronavirus lockdown. After which, his choice of words was slammed by fans.
Anushka, who is currently in the UAE with Kohli, took to Instagram and said, "That Mr Gavaskar, your comment is distasteful is a fact but I would for you to explain why you thought of making such a sweeping statement on a wife accusing her for her husband’s game? I’m sure over the years you have respected the private lives of every cricketer while commentating on the game. Don’t you should have equal amount of respect for me and use?"
"I am sure you can have many other words and sentences in your mind to use to comment on my husband’s performance from last night or are your words only relevant if you use my name in the process?" added Anushka.
"It's 2020 and thing still don't change for me. When will I stop getting dragged into cricket and stop being used to pass sweeping statements? Respected Mr. Gavaskar, you are a legend whose name stands tall in the gentleman's game. Just wanted to tell you what I felt when I heard you say this," Anushka concluded her post. She has frequently been blamed for Kohli's on-field performance.
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are currently expecting their first child. They made the big announcement on social media with an adorable post.

Heard this live and the guy laughed. He has always been in the news for making some really unacceptable remarks "jokingly" while in the commentary box but this isn't okay. Who gave him the right to drag somebody's family into it irrespective of the context he meant it in? https://t.co/4MeFZNOdx4

Seeing Anushka trending, first I thought, NCB summons her too.
Then understood, in the world's "most uncivilized" country, a wife is trolled if her husband underperforms at work but never ever gets any credit if the hubby darling performs and Delivers.🤷🏿♂️pic.twitter.com/oGYWzvC1VE

More power to Anushka Sharma for tolerating these sexist human beings 🙏

RCB wins: *not a single person in Anushka's mentions*
RCB loses: Let me make Anushka memes or crack jokes on her since it will make me look cool
