At the BCCI-organised auction on Monday, broadcasting firm Star India has won the Indian Premier League's global media rights for five years from 2018-2022. Previously, Star held IPL's digital rights in India for a three-year period, paying Rs 303 crore. Star takes over from Sony Pictures, which had a nine-year deal for Rs 10,450 crore from 2009, with a consolidated bid of Rs 16,347.5 crore.
