Earlier, Zimbabwe was supposed to tour India for T20 series but things changed over the period of time as Zimbabwe was suspended from the membership of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The big move by ICC in July 2019 broke many Zimbabwe cricket fans as well as players. It was said that the decision was taken as the result of Zimbabwe's Cricket association's inability to provide a process for conducting free and democractic elections.
Therefore on September 25 (Today), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a three-match T20 series replacing Sri Lanka with Zimbabwe against India. BCCI also relased the schedule that is dated in the month of January 2020.
