BCCI President and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has finally reacted over KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant wicketkeeping debate. The BCCI chief has lauded KL Rahul's performance in the Test series and also wished him in the longest format of the game.
According to NDTV reports, the Indian team management had decided to grant KL Rahul the role of a 'keeper-batsman' in limited overs after deciding to drop Pant from the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand.
This decision comes days after, Rahul showed satisfactory work behind the stumps. At a recent interview with ABP News, Ganguly said "Virat Kohli takes that decision. The team management and captain decide the role of KL Rahul. He (Rahul) has played well in ODIs and T20Is. He started well in Test cricket but has gone down slightly. But in limited overs cricket he has played really well and hope he continues all the good work but like I said, all these decisions are of the team management's."
Further talking about the wicket-keeper's spot for T20 World Cup, Ganguly added that "The selectors, Virat and Ravi (Shastri) will decide that. Whatever they think, it'll happen that way."
India and New Zealand second T20I will take place on January 26. The first match was won by Team India by 6 wickets.
