Ever since Ravichandran Ashwin feel into the soup of 'mankading' controversy, people and fans both have trolled or criticized him for his behaviour. Even cricket experts were miffed after Rajasthan Royals star Jos Buttler was mankadad in IPL 2019. But that did not harm Ashwin, who stuck to his guns despite receiving widespread criticism for what many deemed as "unsportsmanlike behaviour".
In a recent match, Ashwin is still seen taking his stand on the 'mankad' debate when he threatened to 'mankad' Shikhar Dhawan during Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) match at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Saturday night. The 'mankading' incident took place in the 13th over of Delhi Capitals' chase. To be fair to Shikhar Dhawan, the left-hander was well inside the crease when Ashwin abruptly stopped in his run-up and made a small-action as if to 'mankad' Dhawan.
Coming as a surprise to Dhawan, the Delhi Capitals opener bent down on one knee to display his annoyance. In the video, a visibly irritated Dhawan then mocked Ashwin as he ran up to deliver the next ball by doing a bizarre dance. See the clip of the entire incident:
Meanwhile, fans in the stadium and the commentators on-air were left in splits by Dhawan's antics. Dhawan played a crucial role and scored 56 off 41 balls that included a 92-run second-wicket partnership with skipper Shreyas Iyer.
