Former Indian Cricket Team Captain Sourav Ganguly has been extremely instrumental to shape up the National team before the arrival of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Post his retirement from Cricket, he played in IPL for quite some time and then showed his presence in the Commentary box, significant Cricket events and later became the president of Bengal Cricket Association.
A few months back, Ganguly expressed his interest to become the coach for India in the near future. Meanwhile, in a recent meeting held in Mumbai on Sunday (October 13), Ganguly's name has been unanimously locked for the president of BCCI.
Reportedly, former BCCI president Anurag Thakur backed Sourav Ganguly's name against N Srinivasan's candidate. It is said that all the BCCI members agreed to take a stand against the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) to appoint a new BCCI president.
In fact, Ganguly's administration as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal had impressed the BCCI members to consider him as the ideal person for BCCI head position. Earlier all the reliable sources from the cricket fraternity confirmed 'Dada' aka Sourav Ganguly to be the next president of BCCI, an official press release is expected any time sooner.
Sourav also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to express his interest in the position. Now it has been officially announced that Sourav Ganguly will be the president of BCCI only for a limited period of 9 months. Meanwhile, Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah has been elected as the secretary of BCCI.
