With India ‘A’ taking lead against West Indies ‘A’ in the first match of the ‘unofficial’ Test series, it has now been announced that Kerala Pacer Sandeep Warrier will be replacing Navdeep Saini in the next two Test matches scheduled for July 31 and August 6 respectively.
The announcement came following Saini’s inclusion in the Senior India Squad for West Indies tour starting August 3. Saini found a spot in both T20I and ODI lists.
Warrier had played for India ‘A’ against Sri Lanka ‘A’ last month and is apparently happy about the second call. “I got the message that I will be replacing Saini in the West Indies on Monday. Though I have played for India ‘A’ before, this will be the first time I will be travelling with ‘A’ team abroad. So, I’m pretty excited and hope to do well in the opportunities I get to play in Windies.”, Warrier was quoted saying by the Times Of India.
Born in Thrissur, Warrier gave his first-class debut in 2012 against Goa and has played 48 first-class matches so far. One of his career best was last year’s Ranji Trophy season, where he scalped 44 wickets in 10 matches adding momentum to Kerala’s bowling attack. His stupendous performace in Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy earned him a spot in the Kolkata Knight Riders Franchise for 2019 IPL season.
