Home > News Shots > SportsAdding another feather to his cap, Mumbai Indians' captain Rohit Sharma became the third batsman to score 5000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He reached the milestone in the 12th match of IPL 2020.
Before the start of the game, Rohit was just two runs short of the record; he completed his 5000th run with a four off Mohammed Shami. So with 5068 runs, Rohit is currently the league's third-highest run-scorer after Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina.
Minutes after Rohit completed 5000 IPL runs, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star player Suresh Raina took to Twitter and wished his former teammate. "Heartiest congratulations my brother on achieving another great milestone of completing 5k runs @ImRo45 . Proud of you, more power to you!," he wrote.
As per Times Now report, both Rohit and Raina have shared the dressing room for more than a decade. Looking into Rohit's laurels; he now has 38 IPL fifties, both Rohit and Raina are now tied at the 2nd place in the list, only behind Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner with 44 IPL fifties.
Highlighting about yesterday's match, Rohit Sharma was dismissed by pacer Mohammed Shami in the 15th over when he tried to go for a big six, but got caught amid a terrific relay catch between Glenn Maxwell and Jimmy Neesham. Both made fantastic efforts to get the danger man out.
After scoring 70 in 45 balls, Rohit had to walk back to the hut. He scored eight fours and three sixes in his innings. Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), who won the toss and opted to field in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Mumbai Indians lost by 48 runs.
