CSK SHOULD RETAIN 'THESE TOP 3' PLAYERS IF MEGA AUCTION TAKES PLACE IN IPL 2021 - REPORT
Home > News Shots > SportsIPL 2020 was not a good season for the three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as they have been majorly scrutinized for their performance. Since the beginning of the tournament, they had been facing blows and shocks- like Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh opting out of the mega event.
Sadly, CSK could not even survive to the playoffs as their performance has been extremely below their standards. Despite all the negativity and criticism, the yellow army would be looking forward to bounce back in the next season and come back stronger.
With IPL 2020 just being concluded, BCCI is all set to prepare for the coming season which is few months away.
According to Crictracker report, as the mega auction is expected to take place in the next season, CSK can only retain three players. As most of the players in the Yellow Army have crossed their prime years, CSK will look to retain younger players who will be available for more than three years.
Below are top three CSK players who should retain if Mega Auction happens in IPL 2021:
- Sam Curran: Sam Curran was picked by CSK in the 2020 auction. After Dwayne Bravo was injured in the initial games, the English all-rounder played his best and was worth the replacement. In IPL 2020, Curran's performance was quite decent with both bat and ball.
Curran, who is a dominating batsman can also perform the duties of bowling with the new ball for CSK and he excelled in that role too. Keeping everything in mind, he is one of the bright players for CSK.
- Deepak Chahar: Till date, Deepak Chahar has been a quality pacer for CSK in IPL. He has bowled extremely well in the powerplay which has brought him more confidence in the game. Not to forget, his heroics in IPL earned him a place in Team India as well.
Looking at the age factor, Chahar, who is only 28 years old, can play for more than three years for CSK. So if he continues to play well for the team, then he can be a leader of their bowling attack. So far, Deepak Chahar has picked up more than 40 wickets for CSK and has the ability to take wickets upfront.
- Ravindra Jadeja: Its been few years now that Ravindra Jadeja has been a part of CSK. He is one of the team's reliable finishers and a go-to bowler. In IPL 2020, Jadeja has batted at number 6 in most of the matches; he has also been the driving force to provide the team with the last boost. Jadeja is a permanent fixture in the Indian team as well and his experience can be utilized by CSK.
As CSK has always believed in keeping their top players so with Jadeja being a key member for several years, he could be an important asset of the Chennai franchise.
