Shikhar Dhawan injured his left thumb while playing against Australia in the 14th match of ICC World Cup 2019. Due to which, he was ruled out of CWC for 3 weeks.
To cover for Dhawan until he comes back from injury, Rishab Pant is all set to fly to England. However, Dhawan will continue to stay in the team and undergo treatment for his injury.
Rishabh Pant is yet to be named as replacement for Shikhar Dhawan as the BCCI is still hopeful that the India opener Shikhar Dhawan will recover from his injury in two to three weeks, reports NDTV.
Pant, who was initially ignored for Dinesh Karthik when the squad was picked, will be leaving for the UK. When he was omitted, former India captain Sourav Ganguly said Virat Kohli and Co. will miss the big-hitting keeper-batsman and England batsman Kevin Pietersen tweeted that Pant should be flown in when Dhawan's injury came to light.
