The last time cricket fans saw Dhoni with the bat was during the run-out which broke millions of hearts in the 2019 World-Cup Semi-final match against New Zealand at Old Trafford in Manchester.
After so many months, MSD has opened up about his run-out in a recent interview to India Today. Dhoni admitted that he should have dived to save his wicket but did not do it.
"In my first game I was run-out and this game again I was run-out. I keep telling myself why didn't I dive. Those two inches I still keep telling myself I should have dived," Dhoni told India Today.
Dhoni and Jadeja brought back the momentum while chasing a target of 241 against New Zealand in the semi-final. While Dhoni scored 50, Jadeja contributed 77 runs for the 116-run partnership which was much needed after the top-order collapse.
It was during Lockie Ferguson's 49th over that Dhoni tried to get the second run after one delivery and dismissed by Martin Guptill's direct hit.
