Gone were the speculations over Virat Kohli’s presence in the West Indies Tour. On July 21 (Sunday), BCCI announced the squad for the West Indies series which included Virat Kohli as captain in all the three formats. On July 29 (Monday), the Indian team will be leaving to the Carribean to play 3 T20s, 3 ODIs and 2 Test Matches.
Earlier, it was expected that Virat will be attending the press before leaving for the international tour. Meanwhile, he was in the news at Mumbai attending the opening match of Pro Kabaddi featuring Mumbai leg. He also picked his Kabaddi team featuring Indian cricket players which included Dhoni, Umesh Yadav, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.
"It requires a lot of strength and athleticism. So I would say, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav. Umesh is really strong. Rishabh Pant as well. I would say Bumrah because he can really work on a toe-touch. One more... I am not even going to include myself because these guys are stronger and more athletic” Virat was quoted as saying by India Today at the event.
On July 28 (Sunday), a report from ANI confirmed Virat Kohli will not attend the pre-departure press conference. The BCCI source said, “There will be no pre-departure press conference by the Indian team leaving for the West Indies”. The report further added that the press meet could not be conducted since there was no enough time.
