KIERON POLLARD SENDS OUT A MESSAGE TO DWAYNE BRAVO AFTER MUMBAI INDIANS WIN 5TH IPL TITLE
Home > News Shots > SportsMumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Kieron Pollard was a happy and proud man after his team won their 5th IPL title on Tuesday (November 10). In the final match, Delhi Capitals (DC), who put up 156 target were easily defeated with 1.2 overs to spare.
Post the match, Pollard termed MI to be the best T20 team after they broke their even-year jinx to be crowned the Indian Premier League champions for a record-extending 5th time.
"It's a great feeling. I've been here 11 years, the fifth trophy. No one sees the planning and training, it's pressure playing for a franchise like this," Kieron Pollard said in the post-match presentation.
Amid all the pomp and show, the camaraderie between Pollard and Dwayne Bravo is filled with fun, friendship and the occasional banter. Pollard took time out and teased Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Dwayne Bravo on camera saying that CSK star was behind him in the number of T20 titles.
Do you remember the night when Bravo asked Pollard to take the flight home in the 2010 IPL final when CSK defeated Ml? Since then, Pollard and Bravo have been part of some of the most animated moments in the IPL, despite remaining good friends.
So when MI defeated Delhi Capitals to lift their fifth IPL title at the Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday, Pollard conveyed a message to Bravo, as Chennai Super Kings failed to make it to the playoffs.
With this big win, Pollard currently has won 15 T20 titles, one more than Bravo, who is second with 14. “Dwayne Bravo you are behind me now (about number of T20 titles), I have to say that on camera (smiles),” Pollard said after the match.
Looking into the record, five of those 15 titles have come playing for MI. “It’s a great feeling, means a lot. Fifth trophy. Have been here for 11 years. We have a quiet celebration. He is a different West Indian. He goes at 6am to the gym. The amount of trophies, the amount of talent that’s there, you can say MI is the best T20 team going around. The management, the support staff, the effort they put in to make,” Pollard explained.
