It's that time of the year when the craze over the Indian Premier League (IPL) starts. With preparations underway for the 12th edition of the league, IPL has released a list of 346 shortlisted cricketers -- including 226 Indians - for the highly awaited auction to be held on December 18 in Jaipur.
Seamer Jayadev Unadkat, who was the most expensive Indian player in IPL 2018 after Rajasthan Royals signed him for Rs 1.5 crore, has once again attracted the limelight with his base price.
This year too, Unadkat is the highest-priced Indian with a base price of Rs 1.5 crore. Among other Indians, Yuvraj Singh, Wriddhiman Saha, Mohammed Shami and Axar Patel have set a base price of Rs 1 crore for themselves.
Earlier in IPL auction 2018, Unadkat signed for Rajasthan franchise after they shed a hefty Rs 11.50 crore to get the services of the 27-year-old. However, he failed to fulfill the high hopes of the Rajasthan Royals hierarchy and was released ahead of the IPL 2019 auctions.
There are no Indians with a base price of Rs 2 crore. However, there are overseas players who come into the auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore. Brendon McCullum, Lasith Malinga, Sam Curran, D Arcy Short, Chris Woakes are some of the names.
