The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday had announced that death-over specialist Jasprit Bumrah and spinner Washington Sundar will be missing the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series with England due to injuries.
It was hoped that Bumrah will recover in time for the upcoming three-match ODI series. However, on Friday, the BCCI announced that Bumrah has still not recovered and will not be taking part in the ODI series. Bumrah has reportedly returned home.
26-year-old seamer, Shardul Thakur was announced as Bumrah's replacement. The first ODI will be played on July 12.
