BIG BLUNDER: VIRENDER SEHWAG HITS OUT AT POOR UMPIRING AS KXIP LOSE IN SUPER OVER | WATCH VIDEO
Home > News Shots > SportsFans witnessed an absolute thriller during the IPL 2020 match between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium yesterday. The match was then decided on a Super Over after Marcus Stoinis’ magnificent fifty gave Delhi Capitals the lead.
During the match, there was a massive controversy towards the end. In the third ball of the 19th over which was bowled by Kagiso Rabada, Mayank Agarwal had taken two runs but the umpire deemed it one run short, saying that Jordan had not put his bat behind the line.
But when replays came in, it showed that Jordan’s bat was behind the line although very slightly. This became a major umpiring blunder as social media lashed out at the umpires.
Not just that, KXIP owner Preity Zinta, Virender Sehwag and other cricket personalities expressed their anger on Twitter.
Sehwag even took a dig at the poor decision by the square leg umpire saying, "I don’t agree with the man of the match choice. The umpire who gave this short run should have been man of the match. Short Run nahin tha. And that was the difference." Sehwag posted this on Twitter with a picture of Jordan's run where the bat can be clearly seen over the crease.
Talking about the game, Delhi Capitals won the match after chasing down the 3-run target in the Super Over. They have bagged their first points of the season.

This was an clear umpiring error at the end of 18th over. Chris Jordan reached his ground, but umpire gave a run short. This 1 run might've cost KXIP their game. pic.twitter.com/mZ8jD4YUlU

I travelled enthusiastically during a pandemic, did 6 days of Quarantine & 5covid tests with a smile but that one Short Run hit me hard. What’s the point of technology if it cannot be used? It’s time @BCCI introduces new rules. This cannot happen every year. #DCvKXIP @lionsdenkxip https://t.co/uNMXFJYfpe

I’ve always believed in being graceful in a win or loss & in the spirit of the game but it’s also important to ask for policy changes that improve the game in the future for everyone. The past has happened and it’s imp to move on. So Looking ahead & being positive as always 👍

One short that wasn’t. Technology must take over in these cases.....but that’s possible if only the third umpire spotted it in time. What if #KXIP don’t make it to the final four by 2 points?? Tight #IPL2020 is likely to be... https://t.co/juCLU375jg
