IPL 2020:RAVICHANDRAN ASHWIN TO PLAY FOR NEW TEAM; KXIP GETS NEW CAPTAIN!

According to a report by NDTV, Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin's move to Delhi Capitals has taken a new twist with a source from the Delhi Capitals franchise saying that the deal has been completed and an official announcement would be made soon. "Yes, it is done and we will announce soon."

The move also means that KL Rahul might be crowned captain of KXIP for the next edition. "Yes, that is very much a possibility because Rahul is not only one of the senior players, but also understands the working of the team and the strengths and weaknesses of those in the team," a source was quoted saying by NDTV.

Earlier, KXIP's Director of Cricket Operations, Anil Kumble had expressed uncertainty over Ashwin's future. "No decision has been taken yet. I have just come on board, in the last week. We will know in the due course the decisions we are going to make. I haven't got down to the details of the squad. The players we are going to retain, the players we are going to trade, none of those areas has been looked into."

Under Ashwin's leadership, KXIP played well in the first half of the two seasons before losing the momentum in the second half. The team finished seventh in 2018 and sixth in 2019. Also, the auctions for the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held on December 19 at Kolkata.
