IPL 2020: ASHWIN SHARES HIS "INTERESTING CHAT" WITH RICKY PONTING ON 'MANKADING'
Home > News Shots > SportsIndian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin drew criticism after he ran out England batsman Jos Buttler at the non-striker's end last IPL season. Ever since that moment, Ashwin has been linked to the term - 'Mankading'.
Few days back, IPL coach Ricky Ponting said he would talk to the spinner about it before the IPL 2020 begins. Recently, Ashwin opened up on his YouTube channel saying, he has spoken to his IPL coach Ricky Ponting on the contentious issue but will reveal the contents of the telephonic conversation only next week.
"Ricky Ponting hasn't yet reached (Dubai). After he comes, we will sit for a chat with him. He said he wants to have a conversation. We have already talked over the phone. It was a very interesting chat," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
"What happens sometimes is Australians' messages in English get lost in translation and reach us with a different meaning. Even some of their jokes become news. That's what it is and next week I will reveal a bit more about my conversation with Ricky," Ashwin added.
Further in his channel, Ashwin stated that it's better to have a face-to-face conversation as the message of the Australians can get lost in translation.
Last week, Ponting, who was giving his opinion on the issue said he will have a "hard conversation" with Ashwin and won't allow him to repeat the act at Delhi Capitals as it is "not within the spirit of the game".
The 13th edition of IPL 2020 is all set to begin on September 19 in the UAE and will end on November 10.
