The much-anticipated India-Pakistan clash at the Asian Games came to a spectacular finish yesterday night. India registered a huge victory against Pakistan by eight wickets. With Virat Kohli in rest, India seemed to be struggling against Hong Kong. However, thanks to the brilliant bowling, India could decimate Pakistan.
The match against Hong Kong can be called as the wake-up call needed for India to perform in perfection against Pakistan. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/15), Kedar Jadhav (3/23), Jasprit Bumrah (2/23) and Kuldeep Yadav's (1/37) immaculate bowling, India easily slid to victory.
The batting too was formidable. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan proved why they are the most formidable opening pair in ODIs and T20s.
The situation seemed bleak when Hardik Pandya had to be stretchered off the field due to an acute lower back injury. At this point, young Babar Azam (47) and Shoaib Malik (43) added 82 runs and seemed to take control of the situation. However, Kedar Jadhav took the role of the frontline spinner and did a laudable job at it. Pakistan suffered a batting collapse and lost five wickets for 36 runs.
