Gunaratne ruled out of first Test due to injury

Sri Lanka middle-order batsman Asela Gunaratne was on Wednesday ruled out of the ongoing opening Test against India after he sustained a fracture in the left thumb while fielding at second slip. Gunaratne was attempting a catch of India opener Shikhar Dhawan off the bowling of Lahiru Kumara when he suffered the injury. His exit means Sri Lanka will bat with only ten players in both their innings.
