Japan’s World Cup dream ended after the team suffered a heartbreaking loss against Belgium on Monday’s Round of 16 battle. While the team had shocked Belgium with 2-0 lead initially, the latter bounced back and won 3-2 to end Japan’s campaign.
However, Japan fans at the at Rostov Arena, where the two teams clashed, won the hearts of football fans after they showed an incredible sportsmanship after the battle. Though tremendously disappointed over their team’s loss, the fans grabbed trash bags and cleaned the stadium.
Respect and praise have been pouring in for the fans. They were seen devastated and in tears due to the loss. However, they still chose to clean the arena to stick to their reputation.
This is my favourite moment of the World Cup so far; Japan fans picking up litter after their victory vs Columbia. The lessons in life we can take from the game. Why I support 🇯🇵 #class✅#respect✅#WorldCup pic.twitter.com/FyYLhAGDbi
