"You will always be my Captain," Said Virat Kohli after Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down from captaincy. While MSD involved himself with new captain Virat Kohli to guide the Indian team for more than 2 years, the former took a break after World Cup 2019. The world has been observing MSD's activities post-world cup with a keen eye to see him back on the field again.
A few days ago, we had reported on MSD's net practice session hinting his comeback on the field. It looks like the talks have already started not by BCCI but BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board). The BCB will be hosting Asia XI vs World XI in the month of March 2020 and reports say that Bangladesh management has approached MSD to play for Asia XI.
Not Just MSD, players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Ravindra Jadeja have also been invited to play in the tournament as per reports. However, India will be playing 3 ODIs against South Africa on March 18 which makes key players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya difficult to release from the team.
Since MSD has not been included in any of the tournaments including the upcoming West Indies series, the BCB is quite confident to rope in MSD for the Asia XI team. "Yes, Bangladesh is scheduled to host two T20 Internationals between Asia XI and Rest of the World. We are in touch with BCCI and other cricket boards of the Asian region to allow their players to be part of these two games," BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury was quoted as saying by Times Now.
The Asia XI vs World XI tournament is scheduled on March 18 and March 21, 2020, at Dhaka, Bangladesh. Though nothing regarding MSD's inclusion has been officially announced yet, we would have to wait and see if MSD plays for Team India (if included in any series before March 2020) or BCB tournament.
