Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni, while speaking on the sidelines of Star Reimagine Awards, explained why he batted higher in the order during the recently-concluded Indian Premier League 2018. The wicketkeeper-batsman said, “I was sure in my mind that I wanted to bat up the order, because with age, me batting down the order was like quicksand.”
Dhoni guided CSK to lift their third title in the IPL, while also proving that he’s still the best finisher. “So it was more like quicksand, the more I flutter, the deeper I would go,” he said adding that he wants the team to bat deep so that he could bat up the order.
He, however, clarified that it’s not about the number at which he comes to bat, but about the overs. The class finisher also stated that he had a chance to be more aggressive when he batted up the order.
