The Delhi Capitals won the toss and decided to bowl first against Punjab who were without Chris Gayle today.

Delhi lose 7 wickets for 8 runs and punjab steal a victory

Sam Curran opened the batting with Rahul in Gayle's absence and got them off to a good start. They kept losing wickets at crucial stages throughout the innings. Sarfaraz Khan and David Miller hung played well in the middle getting 39 and 43 runs respectively but no one really pushed on to get a big score. Mandeep Singh's 4 and a 6 to finish took Kings XI Punjab to 166 in 20 overs which was considered 20 runs short. Rabada, Morris, and Lamichhane were the pick of the bowlers.

The Delhi Capitals in return lost Prithvi Shaw in the very first ball to Ashwin. Dhawan and Iyer then steadied the innings with a 61 runs partnership, but Iyer and Dhawan fell soon after. Rishabh Pant and Colin Ingram carried on in an aggressive manner until the fourth ball of the 17th over.  After this point, there was a massive twist and as commentator Michael Slater said "Delhi lost their heads in this run chase". From there on they went on to get bowled out for 152 losing 7 wickets for just 8 runs in the end. This included a hattrick from Sam Curran who ended up with figures of 4/11 in 2.2 overs. Ashwin setup up the game very well with 2 wickets of the openers and an important runout of Morris towards the end along with Viljoen. Sam Curran and Shami finished it off very well to win the game.

This is a game that the Delhi Capitals should have won easily but managed to let it slip and this loss might hurt them later in the tournament.
