AFTER PLAYING 1 MATCH FOR IPL 2020, DELHI CAPITALS PACER RULED OUT OF TOURNAMENT
Home > News Shots > SportsIPL 2020 seems to be lucky for Delhi Capitals (DC), they have now won five out of their seven matches and are at 10 points along with Mumbai Indians (MI), but due to a superior net run rate, MI are at the No.1 spot.
During the recent match in Abu Dhabi, the Delhi Capitals were outplayed by the defending champions in all departments of the game.
“The effort we put on the field, we could definitely work on that as there were a few misfields and dropped catches as well. Overall, they [Mumbai Indians] outplayed us in all the departments,” DC skipper Shreyas said in the post-match conversation.
A day after this loss at the field, fans are shocked to know that Delhi Capitals fast bowler Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2020.
So far, Ishant had only played one game, which was against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Meanwhile, a statement from the franchise said that “Delhi Capitals fast bowler Ishant Sharma experienced an acute episode of left rib cage pain while bowling at a team training session on 7 October 2020 in Dubai. Subsequent investigations revealed that he sustained a left internal oblique muscle tear."
“This injury will unfortunately rule him out of the remainder of the Dream11 Indian Premier League 2020. Everyone at Delhi Capitals wishes Ishant a speedy recovery,” the statement added.
As Ishant departs from the tournament, Delhi Capitals will face a big loss for the team as they had already lost leg-spinner Amit Mishra previously due to injury. Even wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant picked up an injury last week, following which he had to take rest when the team took on Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
Earlier, it was off-spinner Ashwin who had also suffered a shoulder sprain but he has recovered now. DC will next lock horns against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday.
