Chris Woakes was roped in by Delhi Capitals for a base price of Rs 1.50 crore at December's auction. He has not played a T20 since August 2018 but was last seen playing a T20I for England in November 2015.
According to a report published on www.skysports.com, Woakes informed the franchise about his decision and a hunt is on for his replacement. The cricketer opted to pull out in a bid to keep himself fresh for the international summer.
Woakes, has earlier played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He is currently playing with the England team in Sri Lanka. Delhi Capitals are currently worried for South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada and Indian bowler Ishant Sharma over injuries.
The 13th edition of the IPL is all set to begin from March 29. Also, the first match of the season will be played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium.
