CHENNAI SUPER KINGS TO TERMINATE CONTRACTS OF 2 STAR PLAYERS IN IPL 2020 - REPORT
Home > News Shots > SportsIn the IPL 2020 table, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is currently below average in their performances; they have won only one of their opening three matches, while lost the other two by some margins. The recent performance shows that CSK is missing their key players a lot.
Ahead of IPL 2020, CSK suffered two big blows after two senior players backed out of the league due to personal reasons.
First was Suresh Raina, who returned from UAE after his family members were killed. Harbhajan, on the other hand, had decided to land in Chennai, also delayed his departure for UAE later hinting that he might not play IPL 2020.
Raina and Harbhajan's decision to skip IPL 2020 was due to personal reasons, which could now see them losing their IPL contracts. As per a report in InsideSport, CSK is planning to process the termination of both the players. This news comes days after CSK removed their names from the official website.
As per the IPL Auction guidelines in 2018, both Harbhajan & Raina had signed a 3 years deal with the CSK which was finishing with the 2020 season of IPL 2020.
According to sources, CSK is moving ahead to officially terminate the contracts with the duo. When InsideSport reached out to CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan on the same, he did not deny the development but he refused to comment on the contract termination. He further said, "players will only be paid if they play as they are not playing they won’t be paid."
According to a Times Now report, Raina was retained by CSK for Rs 11 crore while Harbhajan joined the Yellow Army for Rs 2 crore in 2018.
Looking into his career, Raina has scored 5,368 runs in 193 matches. He is one of the most consistent players in the league and also holds the record of playing most matches.
