South African bowler and CSK's star cricketer Imran Tahir is readying himself for his last ODI match on Saturday, after which he is all set to retire from one day cricket.
Saturday’s World Cup match against reigning champions Australia is set to be Tahir’s 107th and last ODI before he bids adieu.
Tahir was born in Pakistan and was married to a South African. He debuted in his first ODI in February 2011, just a month before turning 32.
Now 40, he has taken 172 ODI wickets and is lovingly called Parasakthi Express by CSK fans for the way he celebrates after taking wicket.
With just two win so far, the Proteas are out of the World Cup and Saturday will be their last match of the tournament.
Tahir said, “As a team, we need to think about finishing on a good note. But it makes me feel very sad and emotional that I’m going to leave."
“It will be quite a hurtful and sad moment for me but I’ve prepared myself for that, so hopefully it will go well for me and the team. I also feel there are a couple of good spinners in the country who need the opportunity. We are fighting for the same spot, but looking to the future, they will have more opportunities to play for South Africa."
