WATCH! CSK SHARES TRIBUTE VIDEO FOR SHANE WATSON AFTER HIS RETIREMENT; FANS GET EMOTIONAL
Home > News Shots > SportsDays after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Shane Watson announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, the much loved franchise posted a tribute video for him.
In 2016, Watson retired from international cricket after the T20 World Cup but continued to play in various T20 tournaments around the world such as the Indian Premier League (IPL), Big Bash League (BBL), Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
After his IPL 2020 season with CSK, Watson decided to hang his boots on his professional career. His decision came after the team got knocked out before the playoffs for the first time in history.
Meanwhile, looking into CSK journey, Watson has been part of it since 2018. Recently, the CSK official twitter handle uploaded a video as a tribute for Watson. “To our beloved Watto Man, thank you for the memories in #yellove. Kneenga Vera Level, now and always,” they captioned it.
Taking a look at his IPL journey, Watson began his career with the Rajasthan Royals (RR), where he spent eight years before moving to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after the 2008 champions were suspended for two years.
In RCB, Watson played 24 matches and scored 250 runs across two seasons. Then in 2018, CSK saw the all-rounder play some of his most memorable innings in the IPL, where he scored 1,252 runs from 43 matches.
The most memorable time came during the summit clash, where he batted with a bleeding leg but his dismissal led to Mumbai Indians (MI) securing a narrow one-run win to lift the title. But this 13th season, Watson had a reasonably quiet IPL with just 299 runs from 11 matches with two half-centuries.
Earlier in the day, Watson came up with a string of photos and shared his entire cricketing journey through it. He took to Instagram and wrote, “As one incredible chapter closes, another very exciting one opens. I am so incredibly grateful for all the people from around the world who supported me throughout all of the ups and downs that living your dream presents. Here are a few of the very special memories that I will cherish forever. The next exciting chapter awaits….”
