CSK CEO SHARES DETAILS ON SURESH RAINA AND HARBHAJAN SINGH’S FUTURE WITH 'YELLOW ARMY'
Home > News Shots > SportsThe Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has been an underwhelming season for the three-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with only three wins in 10 matches so far.
After doing amazingly well, in the 2018 and 2019 edition, CSK's theory of ‘experience over youth’ has flopped miserably in this season.
With low performances at the 13 edition of IPL, all the players including the veteran skipper MS Dhoni are at the receiving end of criticism.
Meanwhile, reports also suggest that the CSK management is ‘extremely disappointed and unhappy’ with the results. However, Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan has stated that Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina are ‘vital cogs’ in the team despite pulling out of the ongoing IPL 2020 in UAE.
His statement comes amid reports that both the senior players’ career with CSK has come to an end. Before the IPL 2020 could begin, Suresh Raina was first to pull out of the team. He was also part of the pre-season camp that took place in Chennai before landing in the UAE. But sadly, he decided to return to India citing personal reasons.
Just a few days later, Harbhajan Singh also decided to pull out citing personal reasons. With CSK's performance and recent turn of events, CSK CEO has insisted the duo continues to be a vital part of the team while also admitting that they were missed.
“Undoubtedly Raina and Harbhajan are both vital cogs in the CSK unit and they were missed. But you have to respect personal decisions and that is how we function irrespective of whether it is a senior or junior player,” the CSK CEO told ANI.
After being placed at the eight position on the points table, CSK are looking set to exit the tournament at the league stage.
For CSK, winning the four games is looking impossible at the moment even if they go on to win their remaining four games, they will have to depend on other results to make it to the playoffs.
