Cricket rule changes to be implemented on September 28

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday reportedly announced that a new set of cricketing rules will come into effect on September 28. By the new set of rules, umpires will have the power to send a player off the field for the remainder of the game, similar to a 'red card' in football, if the player has committed a Level 4 offence. Threatening to assault an umpire, making deliberate or inappropriate contact with an umpire and physically assaulting another player all amount to Level 4 offences. Restrictions on bat thickness, Decision Review System (DRS) in T20I are some of the key changes in the rules.
