Obviously, Cricket is one of the most-viewed sports in India and appeals to the international audiences of most countries. Mike Gatting, MCC’s Chairman of World Cricket Committee has recently confirmed that Cricket may be a part of 2028 Olympics which will be held in Los Angeles.
Reportedly talks are going on with the ICC chief executive, Manu Sawhney to make the game available in 2028 Olympics games. "We were talking with Manu Sawhney the ICC chief executive, and he was very hopeful we can get cricket into the 2028 Olympics," Gatting was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.
Further, Gatting said that apparently scheduling just 2 weeks for Cricket would not be of big concern for ICC since Olympics is happening once in 4 years. In fact, ICC has already begun the talks to showcase the game at one of the biggest World sports events. “It would be a big bonus for Cricket World Wide”, added Gatting.
According to the facts, Cricket was included in the 1900 Olympic games in which Great Britain won the Gold beating France by 158 runs. We would have to wait and see if Cricket gets included in the 2028 Olympic games after 128 years in history. The probability of winning a gold would be much higher for India assuming the current prospects of Indian Cricket team players.
