The ‘Universe Boss’ smashed 72 runs off 41 balls in the last match of the tri-match ODI series against India on Thursday (14.08.2019) at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. This includes five sixes and four boundaries. He was dismissed by Khaleel Ahmed when he hit one straight to the hands of Virat Kohli.

Brace Yourself! This could be Gayle’s last international match. As soon as Gayle realised his dismissal, he smiled and Indian players shook hands with him. They even did his typical jig with him. Gayle threw his bat in the air, put his helmet on top of it and walked off the field.The West Indies players gave him a standing ovation. Connecting all the threads justifies the above doubt.

In his ODI career, Gayle has scored 10,480 runs which includes 25 centuries and 54 half-centuries from 301 matches.  In Tests, he has 7,214 runs to his name.

Gayle has not played Test cricket in recent times. He wanted to play one last time when West Indies will face India in Jamaica shortly. But the selection committee did not include his name in the squad. He also did not play in the just concluded three-match Twenty20 series against India.
