As long as Indian Premier League (IPL) continues to enthral cricket enthusiasts, Brendon Mccullum's name will remain in the first page of its history only because of his scintillating 158 (not out) in the very first match of IPL 2008. It has to be mentioned that it was the inception of IPL. Mccullum scored the brilliant century while he was playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2008.
The 158 remained to be the best of Mccullum's IPL career till 2018 after which he was not chosen by any IPL franchises. He played for KKR in 2018. While he announced retirement from international cricket, the KKR management has appointed him as the head coach of the franchise in the upcoming IPL tournament in August.
Admist hot IPL buzz, Mccullum took to his twitter space and expressed his humbleness to KKR management. His tweet indicated that he really looks for IPL 2020 auction to strengthen the various department of the SRK owned team led by Dinesh Karthik. Mccullum turned to be the important asset for all the IPL teams he had played including Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Humbled to have this opportunity to Coach this group of talented @KKRiders players. We understand that the @IPL Auction will be an important time for us to strengthen our squad in various departments. Off the field we have formed a strong support crew. We move towards the target. pic.twitter.com/VK8BRxxRJj
