After the nail-biting World Cup final match between New Zealand and England, Ben Stokes, who was voted man of the match after scoring an unbeaten 84 runs said he would apologise to New Zealand captain Kane Williamson for the rest of his life.
At a recent interview, he was quoted saying by www.nzherald.co.nz," I am pretty lost for words. All the hard work to get here and be world champions, it's an amazing feeling. Playing against New Zealand is always a good event, they are good lads. I will be apologising to Kane for the rest of my life (the overthrow for the six runs total)...It was written in the stars to happen for us."
Meanwhile, Kane Williamson expressed himself on the loss stating that what happened was unfortunate. "That was a bit of a shame, wasn't it? You just hope it doesn't happen in moments like that. You can nitpick, but perhaps it just wasn't meant to be for us. It is perhaps tough to review the match, and such small margins," he said.
The host country England reached the World Cup final for the 4th time and have won the title for the very first time. While, New Zealand were playing their second World Cup final.
