Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul came on the recent Koffee With Karan show but instead of a fun, lighthearted episode, the audience was subjected to misogynistic and sexist comments. The two faced flak on social media for their talk on the show.
Pandya reminiscing about the time he partied with his parents was not in the slightest bit sweet. He revealed on the show that he told his parents all the women he had a 'scene' with and the list was long. He also spoke about how he bragged to his parents on losing his virginity. He had told his parents, "Aaj mai kar ke aaya (I came today)."
Due to their controversial comments on the show, the Board of Control for Cricket in India issued a statement on Wednesday informing that they have issued a show cause notice to the two cricketers for their behaviour.
The Chairman of Administrators of BCCI, Vinod Rai stated, "We have sent show cause notices to Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for their comments. They have been given 24 hours to give an explanation."
Responding to the notice, Hardik Pandya issued an official apology for his offensive talk. On Wednesday, he posted on his social media handle, "After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments. Respect."
KL Rahul is yet to respond to the criticism.
