In a major heartbreak for skipper Virat Kohli and Co., Australia beat India by 146 runs in the second Test at Perth. With this win, the Aussies have leveled the four-match Test series 1-1.
India, who were chasing down a target of 243 were dismissed for 140 runs. The visitors were on the chase, starting Day 5 at 113 runs with five wickets down. Sharp bowling by Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins removed Rishabh Pant and Hanuma Vihar.
The Australian squad put up a brilliant comeback after their loss in the first Test at Adelaide. Australia made quick work of breaking India’s lower-order resistance - a meek, thin, inexperienced resistance - to level the series at 1-1 before lunch on the fifth day. This is also the first Test win for Tim Paine as captain. Nathan Lyon was awarded 'Player of the Match' for picking up 8 wickets in the Test.
All eyes will now be on the next Test that will be played from December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
