We have always known Ashwin to be a smart cricketer. He has always thought out of the box as a player, coming up with a number of variations, and plans against different batsman.

He came up with bowling leg spin is last year's IPL which was not expected. He has been bowling very well well in this IPL as well, using a number of different variations within the boundaries of an off-spinner.

Apart from this, Ashwin is always looking to pull tricks and surprise the batsman. The Mankad Incident as well was one such move from Ashwin where his intention was to catch the batsman off guard. In the Match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, he pulled off a very good run out to dismiss Mohammad Nabi. Warner hit the ball straight to him as Nabi was out of the crease. Ashwin stopped the ball and was quick to realize that Nabi was out as he turned and got the stumps.
