Rohit Sharma hit six sixes - three consecutive sixes against off-spinner Mosaddek Hossain - and six fours to lead his team to an 8-wicket win against Bangladesh in the second T20I at Rajkot on Friday. While doing so, Rohit who became the first male cricketer of India to play 100 T20IS, broke a number of records.
Rohit has become the highest six-hitter in a calendar year for the third time in a row. Also, he is the first cricketer to register a hat-trick in being the highest six-hitter in a calendar year.
Rohit has so far hit 66 sixes in 2019 combining all the formats with another T20I and two more Test matches in line against Bangladesh. In 2018, he hit 74 sixes and in 2017, he hit 65.
“You don’t need a huge body and muscles to hit big sixes. Even you (Chahal) can hit sixes. Power is not the only thing you need to hit sixes, you need timing as well. The ball should hit the middle of the bat and your head should be still. So, there are a number of things you need in order to hit a six,” Rohit Sharma told teammate Yuzvendra Chahal on BCCI.tv.
