The squad for India Tour of West Indies was announced on July 21 (Sunday) which did not have MSD in all the three formats. However, India has got a young superfast pace bowler, Navdeep Saini from Haryana to play for T20s and ODI matches which will commence from August 3.
In fact, Navdeep Saini was identified by India’s former opening batsman Gautham Gambhir while he was playing at the Delhi Nets. Reportedly, Gambhir was taken aback by Saini’s pace and supported him to practice regularly at the nets. Later he was selected to play for IPL team, Delhi Daredevils.
"After my family, it's always Gautam bhaiya. I played nowhere, even in Haryana nobody knew me. It was Gautam bhaiya who brought me in and made me play for Delhi. Everybody knows about it now. The way he backed me and trusted in my abilities, I would never forget in my life," Saini was quoted as saying by India Today.
The 26-year-old fast bowler never played cricket with the leather ball till 2013. Reports say, he used to play cricket with only tennis ball and would earn Rs. 200 per match while he was playing in the local tournaments. Saini amazed the cricketing fraternity with his speed of 152.85 Kmph in his first IPL season which was only second to South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada who bowled at 154.23 Kmph.
