Janata Dal (United) senior leader Sharad Yadav on Tuesday, while addressing a gathering, reportedly said, “the honour of vote comes above the honour of daughters”. Yadav reportedly went on to explain, “if daughter’s honour is compromised, it only affects the village or community but if the vote’s honour is compromised, it impacts the entire nation”. Following Yadav’s controversial remarks, the National Commission for Women has reportedly issued a notice to him.
