Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia on Thursday reportedly said that the tax for service sector is likely to increase under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. According to reports, the tax rate is likely to increase to 18 percent. Currently, the service tax rate is 15 percent. However, the service tax for healthcare, education, and agriculture is likely to remain the same.
