Tamil Nadu fisheries minister D Jayakumar has reportedly said that reclaiming Katchatheevu could be the only solution to the problems of Tamil Nadu fishermen being detained by the Sri Lankan Navy. Notably, Katchatheevu was ceded to Sri Lanka by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi through the Indo-Sri Lankan Maritime agreement in 1974.
