According to reports, the Railway Ministry is planning a 240-kilometre rail line connecting Andaman and Nicobar’s Port Blair with Diglipur. If approved, the line is set to cost over Rs 2,413 crore and will be the first on the islands. The Railways and Union Territory administration has said that the proposed line will contribute towards its tourism potential and strategic value for defence forces.
