American multinational semiconductor and telecommunications equipment company Qualcomm on Wednesday unveiled its next-generation fingerprint sensors for smartphones that can be used underwater. The sensors can be fitted under displays, glass, and metal and can also detect heartbeat and blood flow whether the screen is on or off. The sensors are expected to be launched in the first half of 2018.
