Punjab Agricultural university has developed the seeds of country’s first genetically modified varieties of cotton, which could be reused by farmers. Notably, Indian council of agricultural research has identified 3 genetically modified cotton varieties namely PAU bt 1, F1861 and RS 2013 for cultivation in states of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
