Students who opposed the Neduvasal hydrocarbon project and supported the protest of farmers were allegedly forced to strip in Trichy prison by the police. Allegedly, the police seized the cell phones from students and didn’t allow them to inform their whereabouts. A student also alleged that the police used abusive words after the students refused to strip. The student also alleged that Deputy Inspector General Jayabharathi did not take action on their complaints of abuse by police. Notably, the students, who were arrested on April 14, were released on Saturday on bail, say reports.
